We breed more than just geckos here at Geckos Etc. Recently we had our first success with one of our non gecko projects. Our Laos Newts (Laotriton laoensis) just started laying eggs for the first time. This is a really rare newt that has only been bred in captivity a few times before. The first time I saw these I thought they were just too cool not to keep and breed. We are excited to be one of the first in the world to have bred these! Hopefully we will be successful at raising the larvae to metamorphosis.

Really nice Sykes Emerine that was posted in this update. I haven't released too many of these yet, but more will be posted soon!
I am not 100% sure of the genetics of this fat tail gecko because I haven't proven it out for myself, but I believe it to be a Striped Caramel Zulu. I'll find out next year when I breed it to a non striped Caramel Zulu. Check out that paradoxing! If it is indeed a Striped Caramel Zulu, it is really interesting to see how the addition of the stripe changes the Zulu pattern.

11/5/11 - Forty-two new geckos were posted to the available pages in several updates I posted over the last few days. We hatched an awesome new Fat Tail Gecko morph! We hatched a Caramel Oreo (double recessive morph using the Caramel Albino and Oreo genes). We were breeding possible hets for Caramel and Oreo this year, and it was a long shot that we would hatch one this year. However, luck was on our side, and the first baby to hatch was a Caramel Oreo and the second baby was an Oreo 66% het Caramel Albino.
